Apache SSL: Testing Configuration

1. Starting or Restarting Apache. Go to "Start Menu > Apache HTTP Server > Control Apache Server > Start" (or restart if already running). If there is an error you can run
"Configure Apache Server > Test Configuration"
2. Accessing Your Server Using SSL. Open a browser and go to https://localhost (note the 's' on https). Your browser will warn you that the certificate is not trusted
because it is self signed. Allow the brower to access your site by adding the necessary exception.
3. Deliverables. From your browser view the certificate. In Firefox, go to "Tools > Page Info > Security tab > View Certificate". In IE7, Go to "File > Properties >
Certificate button". Take a screenshot of of the certificate with the MAC address of your network adapter. To bring up your MAC address, start a cmd window and type in "ipconfig
/all". An example screenshot:
