Welcome The
long term goals of LERSAIS are to (a) develop the capabilities to carry
out high impact research on both aspects of information assurance:
security and availability, and (b) develop and support high quality
education in security and information assurance. LERSAIS's goal is to
establish a premier research program that focuses on the diverse problems
related to security and survivable information systems, networks, and
infrastructures. It will act as a multidisciplinary forum for the
synergistic interaction among researchers within SIS as well as with other
experts in IA areas outside the school and researchers with some related
interest in IA.
Providing information systems security and assurance has emerged as one of the most daunting technological and social challenges of recent times. The expertise in the Department of Information Sciences and Telecommunications (DIST) at the School of Information Sciences (SIS) in the University of Pittsburgh provides a unique set of capabilities to address the issues related to security and assurance of information systems. Laboratory of Education and Research on Security Assured Information System (LERSAIS) has been established to fulfill a strong need for a research center that coordinates and exploits the synergy among the diverse set of technical expertise of the school as well as the university to solve the multidimensional problems of information assurance (IA). Establishment of LERSAIS has been currently funded by the Dean's Research Intiative awards. |
